Purpose of the Position
The Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the business by performing a range of accounting and administrative duties. This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting both the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Key responsibilities include vendor screening and setup, customer billing, invoice processing, bank reconciliations, and running daily banking reports.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Conduct vendor screening and due diligence checks.
- Set up and maintain vendor records in the financial system.
- Prepare and issue accurate customer invoices in a timely manner. Ensuring that they align with service agreements and work orders.
- Enter and allocate incoming invoices for approval and payment.
- Verify accuracy of billing data and resolve discrepancies as required.
- Perform daily banking tasks including deposits, receipts, and electronic transactions.
- Run daily banking reports and reconcile bank statements.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in bank reconciliations.
- Assist the AP team with invoice entry, payment runs, and vendor queries.
- Support the AR team with customer follow-ups, allocations, and reporting as required.
- Provide backup support for other team members as needed.
Selection Criteria:
- Diploma or equivalent in Accounting or Finance
- Proven ability to accurately process financial data, including invoice entry, reconciliations, and reporting, with a strong focus on data integrity and error minimization.
- Skilled in managing daily banking tasks, reporting, and invoice deadlines effectively in a high-volume environment, ensuring timely completion of critical finance activities.
- Confident user of financial software e.g. Epicor, Xero, MYOB, SAP, Oracle and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a finance team, providing support across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for liaising with vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders regarding financial matters.
- Ability to work well independently and take initiative in own work and development.
- Good time management skills and conflict resolution techniques. Mandatory Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check lodged or received prior to commencement.
- Current Influenza Vaccination.
- National Police Check – Dated within 3 months of commencement date.
