Scientific Assistant

All Aspects Recruitment & HR Services are currently seeking Scientific Assistants  

for a temporary role for approx. 12 months with the possibility of extension.

• $40.73 per hour including casual loading
• Toowoomba location

Duties include:

• Assist senior experimentalist officer with laboratory-based processing of field samples.
• Work independently, following instructions from other staff to successfully complete tasks to support research projects.
• Maintenance of plants for trial work in glasshouse and field.
• Attend and accessing/sampling field trials at Gatton, Darling Downs
• Work in a safe environment following Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and the Departments Code of Conduct.
• Demonstrate initiative and responsibility by completing allocated tasks and activities to a high standard.
• Establish, enhance and maintain relationships to foster good working relationships with colleagues and clients.
• Contribute to scientific integrity of RD&E projects and activities by rigid adherence to scientific protocols and quality assurance principles

Requirements:

Mandatory requirements for this role:

• Current driver’s licence, and desirably hold a truck licence
• Physical requirements of the role include: standing, walking, lifting, bending, kneeling, sitting, twisting, climbing, working outdoors.
• Overnight travel is a requirement.

Essential requirements for this role:

• Skills in laboratory, glasshouse and field research techniques relevant to crop agronomy.
• Prepared to work out of ordinary hours and travel to regional locations as required by the work. Ability to work outdoors.
• Good organisational and communication skills. Proven ability to work effectively in a team, establish work priorities, and meet deadlines.
• A valid “C” class vehicle licence.
